I’m humbled and equally stoked that this award even exists to celebrate the influence film, art, and story can have on social issues. In 2018, my first ever film Ski The Wild West (no need to go Google it; let’s just say my work has improved a lot 😜) was included in the Wasatch Mountain Film Festival. The experience epitomized the dissonance I was feeling in my life at that time. On one hand, I was living the dream. On the other, I was living a nightmare internally. Just that day, I woke up hungover, dislocated my shoulder twice and hid it both times from the crew I was with in the Jackson Hole backcountry, and a friend got caught in an avalanche. On the drive down to SLC, I stopped to visit a friend in the hospital who would never come out of the coma he was in. At the event itself, I felt like an imposter.
