Happy retirement, Dornoch 🥰
It was announced Saturday that the Classic winner has been diagnosed with bone bruising, which will force him to miss his planned final start in the GI Breeders’ Cup Classic. He has officially been retired from racing and will begin his stud career at Spendthrift Farm in 2025.
Winner of last year’s GII Remsen Stakes and this year’s GII Coolmore Fountain of Youth Stakes, the talented 3-year-old colt continued on an upward trajectory with impressive wins in the 2024 GI Belmont Stakes and GI Haskell Stakes. A full brother to 2023 GI Kentucky Derby winner Mage, both out of Puca, he retires with a record of five wins and two seconds from 10 career starts with a total of $2,427,275 earned.
“Dornoch owes us nothing. He’s the best horse I’ve ever trained, and our team is going to miss having him around the barn. But we are also excited about his future.”
