Special guest Fr. Pat Nolan, S.J., the Provincial Assistant for Vocations for the USA East Province of the Society of Jesus, celebrated Mass Thursday in our Scaccia Auditorium on the Feast of St. Borgia.
In Fr. Nolan’s homily, he referenced a letter from St. Peter Canisius to St. Francis Borgia in which he discussed St. Stanislaus Kotska, writing that “we hope for great things from him.”
“ ‘We hope great things from him,’ ” Fr. Nolan repeated, before addressing the students: “Do you realize that is how your teachers, the Jesuits, your coaches, your parents – feel about you? We hope great things from you.”
Fr. Nolan began his homily by using the metaphor of often-cited NFL coaching trees, saying that "each Jesuit priest in this sanctuary has influenced me in some way."
