Sopapillas🇲🇽✨ // Latin American Desserts Ep. 4
I had to take a little break from my series since I got so sick last week, but we are back baby!! With these yummy Sopapillas — they are like a crossover between a churro and a donut. So simple and good!
✨Ingredients:
-4 cups all purpose flour
-3 tbsp shortening
-1 tablespoon baking powder
-1/2 tsp salt
-1 1/2 tablespoons honey
-1 1/2 cups warm water
-1 quart frying oil
-1/2 cup cane sugar
-1 tbsp ground cinnamon
In a bowl, combine flour, shortening, baking powder, salt, honey, and warm water until a soft dough forms. Cover dough; let it rest for 30 mins. With the help of a rolling pin, roll dough into a 12x18’’ rectangle, it should be about 1/2-inch thick. With a knife or bench scraper, cut into 3-inch squares. Heat oil to 375°F (190°C).
