If you plant it they will come! We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from the MACC. Remember that patch we decided to make a “no-spray zone” last year? Well, look who’s moved in! That’s right – monarch caterpillars have found a new home on our butterfly eeed (asclepias tuberosa)! 🐛
By choosing to let this area grow naturally without pesticides, we’ve created a safe haven for these beautiful creatures. It’s a small change with a big impact on our local ecosystem.
Fun fact: Monarch caterpillars ONLY eat milkweed plants like our butterfly weed. By planting these native species, we’re providing a crucial food source for the next generation of monarchs.
Want to help? Consider planting some milkweed in your own garden! Every little bit helps in supporting our pollinator friends.
