BRCA gene mutations cause increased risk for breast, ovarian, prostate, and pancreatic cancers. When todayshow contributor Jill Martin learned she was a #BRCA2 mutation carrier, she was able to create a plan of action with her doctor that included chemotherapy, double mastectomy and reconstruction. Now, as an advisory board member at Penn Medcine’s Basser Center for #BRCA, Jill is working to spread the word about the lifesaving power of #genetictesting. She kicked off #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth on the todayshow alongside Basser Center Executive Director Susan Domcheck, MD, to highlight this important message and encourage both men and women to learn more about their family health history.
