#LostSpeciesMonth is here! From the rediscovery of the Jackson’s Climbing Salamander in Guatemala to the Black-naped Pheasant-pigeon in Papua New Guinea, these remarkable rediscoveries remind us that perseverance can lead to moments of awe.
The search is on for 4,300 species that have not been documented by science in at least 10 years—and often much longer! Re:wild's Search for Lost Species is the largest-ever global effort to find and protect lost species. Our most wanted lost species list spans wildlife groups, geographies and habitats. With local and international partners around the world, we are finding hope and adventure and new opportunities for effective conservation action. All is not lost.
This month, rewild invites you to learn more about these species and the global search to rediscover them. Explore their stories and help spread awareness—because the more we know, the more we can protect.
