Early in the Sept. 6 Texas Tribune Festival panel discussion entitled, “The News about the News Business,” moderator Swati Sharma, the editor-in-chief and publisher of voxdotcom, asked the panelists to discuss nytimes publisher A.G. Sulzberger’s washingtonpost op-ed piece, which posited that the methods used by foreign leaders in Hungary, India and Brazil to curtail journalism could be used in the same way in the United States should like-minded politicians take power as a result of the November election.
