framing & composition in sports filmmaking 🖼️🎞️ the more I grow as a sports creative and try to align myself into more of a sports “cinematographer” over a sports “videographer”, the more I realize how important intentionality and practice is when it comes to applying cinematography techniques into my work capturing live sports. I’ve spoken at length about how to use light in your environment to make your content look more pleasing to the eye, but also using a concept as simple as the rule of thirds to frame up your image properly can really take your shots to a whole new level. whenever I’m out shooting, I always try to focus on the framing of my image first, and make sure it stays aligned while the action happens - and this isn’t easy but once you get used to the concept with enough practice, it becomes second nature very quickly! pro tip - you don’t ALWAYS need to get framing spot on in camera… if you shoot 4K, re-scaling and positioning your footage in post is an easy way to ...
