The final stop on our mural tour has been a prominent part of our community since 2005. The Walker Park mural was facilitated by Jo Ann Kaminsky and Eugene Sargent. Local students and residents helped with research, design and painting, and it took three years to complete. "Represented are numerous people, places and events that reflect the diverse history of the South Fayetteville Community," dating back to the 1800s. Featured in this mural are local, trailblazing women of color Jessie Bryant, Lodene Deffebaugh and Ruth Joiner Carr. “These were things that went on yesterday, they were not your fault or my fault. We can’t change yesterday, but we can do our part to make tomorrow better.” - Jessie Bryant. Check the link in our bio for the history of the mural and resources on diversity, equity and inclusion.
