Maneuvering in a golf cart around the Mennonite Village, a senior living community in Albany, Mel Huffman turned the corner, passing a collection of chicken sculptures and metal art on a lawn.
“There they are,” he said, pointing to a flock of birds that were very much alive.
Ten turkeys crossed the road, pecking at the ground as they walked through the neighborhood and between houses.
For the last few years, turkeys have overrun the Mennonite Village, residents say. The topic’s become a central point of discussion at the community’s monthly council meetings, resident and council President Patricia Hoppa said.
