For some kids, growing up means abandoning a childhood obsession with the color pink: tossing their old wardrobe, repainting bedroom walls and trading stuffed animals for concert posters.
Damala Badon, founder of Portland’s DB Dessert Company, took a different approach to remodeling. When the pipes above her Alberta Street bakery burst in January, she quickly learned she had more than six months of renovations ahead of her. Out with the old — and water-damaged — and in with the new.
And in with the pink.
