Preservation over replacement- whenever possible. We added a column and a beam to help prop up and support a portion of the stairs that was sagging- this happens sometimes with wooden staircases and old homes. It was a very careful procedure to avoid cracking or affecting any of the stair parts. After that we cleaned up all railings and newel posts. Lastly, we freshly painted the treads, risers, and trim.
