Seventeen years ago today, Auburn wore the first throwback uniform in team history.⁣ ⁣ As the Tigers hosted Vanderbilt for homecoming in 2007, Auburn honored the 50th anniversary of the 1957 National Championship team. Auburn wore their white jerseys for the home game, changed the facemasks from navy to grey, and removed the AU decals off the helmets to best match the uniforms worn during the '57 season.⁣ ⁣ Auburn's 1957 team wore long-sleeved sweater-style jerseys that season, with the traditional Northwestern stripes donning only the white tops. The navy shirts had no stripes whatsoever. Auburn went with the white jerseys in order to stick with the readily available jerseys.⁣ ⁣ This also marked the first time that Auburn wore white at home since the 1968 matchup against Georgia.⁣ ⁣ Auburn wouldn't wear an altered uniform design again until the 2020 Outback Bowl.
