It’s official. Former USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter has been appointed by Chicago Fire as new head coach and director of football. Berhalter will be replacing two men for this role. He will take over from Georg Heitz as director of football, and take over from Frank Klopas as head coach. He will report directly to Fire owner and chairman Joe Mansueto. Fire are currently at the bottom of the Eastern Conference table. They have failed to reach MLS playoffs for seven consecutive seasons 😳 Berhalter has been living in Chicago with his family since 2018 following his USMNT appointment, so this seems like a perfect fit.
