Earlier today, Austin FC announced they’ve fired former USMNT striker and assistant coach Josh Wolff. Wolff is best known for his heroics in the 2000 Olympics, where he scored twice, and the 2002 World Cup, where he assisted the USMNT’s first goal in a 2-0 knockout win over rivals México. Since retiring, he also worked as an assistant coach for the USMNT under Gregg Berhalter. He joined Austin FC from the very beginning, being appointed two years before they kicked off in 2021. Under his charge, they’ve failed to qualify three out of four MLS playoffs. After losing to LA Galaxy last night, the owner Anthony Precourt and Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell called an emergency meeting with Wolff this morning. They made the final decision afterwards.
