Commemorating 50 years of women in the corps of cadets felt like a great reason to post on the grid.
I have a series of thoughts:
My time in the corps doesn’t come up on a regular basis (which is wild when we consider how it DICTATED every aspect of my college experience). It feels like a thing I use in “two truths and a lie” scenarios. Sharing a piece of who I used to be with my current community felt like sharing a secret in a safe space. Words can never express how much it meant to me that they woke up early to go to March-In.
Marching among the women who integrated the corps 50 years ago and quite literally behind the woman who integrated the unit I joined as a fish was surreal. Listening to their stories, laughing with them, and following their lead had me on the brink of happy tears all day. I can’t believe I’m a part of this story.
