Tanya wrote the book “California Soul,” and embodies that spirit in everything she does, so we couldn’t celebrate the bounty of the state without including this accomplished culinary queen!⁠ ⁠ Tanya is a true trailblazer in the world of hospitality. She founded the beloved and award-winning brownsugarkitchen restaurant in Oakland in 2008 and followed that up with B-Side BBQ and Town Fare at The Oakland Museum of California. June 5th was even declared Tanya Holland Day by the Mayor of Oakland. ⁠ ⁠ Tanya is a lifelong lover of education, with degrees in Russian Language and Literature and a grande diplóme from La Varenne in Burgundy, and believes in the power of travel and culinary exchange for building bridges.
