Growing up in the 80s and 90s was tough for folks like me who had mental health issues, but didn’t even know it. I tried my best to act normal, get good grades, and be like everyone else, but it was hard. Maintaining strong friendships was a struggle, and I spent a lot of time alone in my room, drawing for hours. No one seemed to get me, and I didn’t really know what it meant to be happy. Art was my escape back then, and it probably kept me sane.
But now, I know that it’s okay to have ups and downs, and that it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. I’ve got better coping mechanisms now, and I’m surrounded by amazing friends who love and support me. I feel happy often, and I’m grateful for all the good things in my life. Our disorders don’t...
