So about yesterday…. I have been chasing the northern lights for about a year now! I went to Iceland last year, Rovaniemi Finland, and Fairbanks Alaska!! I saw a decent show in Iceland last year, but the rest were so dull, so cloudy, such a bummer. I didn’t wanna live my life feeling like something I was so obsessed with was so underwhelming🤣 This year the aurora is at its max so I made it my mission to see a spectacular show! The KP at the beginning of the week showed it being a 1.3- WEAK!! Then randomly it jumped to an 8 meaning extreme solar storm. So you bet on October 10th I booked a flight from Germany (where I was currently at) to Iceland (top places in the world for the aurora) FOR OCTOBER 10th for less then 24 hours. Literally booked a same day flight (I’m type A so that’s a HUGE deal) Talk about spontaneous 🤭 I ended up seeing a light show that was full of the brightest reds which is incredibly rare, and as most are saying was the best aurora they’ve seen in over 20 year...
