Alec came out as queer in 2021 while living in Steamboat Springs. They were one of five local queers to plan the town's first Pride, and they felt it important to embrace their authenticity and pave a welcoming pathway for other queer folks in small towns. Their journey has evolved since, and they began exploring gender in recent years. They got a gender-affirming haircut in January and have been binding their chest for years now. They changed their name earlier this year. Alec's family is Jewish and they chose to keep the root of their name as they are named after a deceased relative, and keeping her name was important to Alec in maintaining the connection with their Jewish family and tradition.
