Early Monday, the New York Times published its latest city-specific restaurant guide, this one on Portland, a city the newspaper calls the “dining capital of the Pacific Northwest” (sorry Seattle). These top 25 lists, which have previously touched on Los Angeles, New Orleans, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami and more, have been trickling out every month or so last year. So which places did they include? As you might expect, there’s a fair amount of overlap between our own ranked guide to Portland’s 40 best restaurants and the New York Times top 25. That includes not only places from our top 10 — Kann, Coquine, Le Pigeon, Langbaan, St. Jack, Kachka, etc. — but nearly every inexpensive spot from The Oregonian’s guide — Ki’kibáa, Ha VL, Matt’s BBQ Tacos, Tulip Shop Tavern — landed on their version as well.
