Patrick Roy will return to Denver tonight as head coach of the New York Islanders. Roy, the undisputed greatest goalie in Avs history, was previously head coach of the Avalanche for 3 seasons between 2013/14 and 2015/16. He left abruptly before the 2016/17 season, leaving room for Jared Bednar to become head coach of the Avalanche. Roy spoke highly of the Avs organization in press conferences.
