On 4 August 2020, the capital city of Lebanon was dealt a cataclysmic blow: an explosion that decimated the Port of Beirut, killing 200 people, injuring thousands more, and destroying countless homes and buildings. And it was happening during what was already a time of acute economic crisis. For members of the PMI Lebanon Chapter, it was also a call to action.
Chapter members got to work, pitching in on everything from helping NGOs prepare food parcels to restoring the local environment through reforestation projects. By pledging their time to our Hours for Impact program, chapter members aren’t just helping heal a community in crisis, they’re supporting multiple U.N. Sustainable Development Goals to build a better world for all.
“Volunteering allows you to be part of changing lives,” says Riam Chazbek, PMP, VP of volunteers. “When you give to society, it can give back to you, as well.”
