It’s tempting to focus on the more-is-more experience of expo2020dubai:⁠ the mind-blowing #art installations, the lush parks, the new #technology, the massive exhibition center. And then there were the 192 pavilions, one for each participating nation, that let attendees immerse themselves in that country’s culture. The host didn’t disappoint on that front, either. Inspired by an eagle in motion, the UAE’s four-story LEED platinum structure by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava was a stop-in-your-tracks stunner.⁠ ⁠ Yet #government leaders knew the event could also serve as a powerful showcase for the emirate’s innovations. And their ambitions extended far beyond the city’s borders.
