Wrapping up Hispanic Heritage Month with a teammate Spotlight: Ever Turcios and Folklorico or Mexican ballet folk dance.
Meet Ever Turcios, Ever is currently in his second year on the cheer team and a senior here at Belmont University majoring in Art education.
Ever is originally from El Salvador and moved to Nashville in 2015 when he was 13.
“Although I’m not Mexican I love the Mexican culture and their traditions so I joined a Mexican Folklorico group in 2018 where I met my dance partner, the group split up a year later but I loved dancing folklorico so me and my dance partner decided to keep dancing as duo.”
An interesting fact about folklorico is that the shoes they wear have nails at the bottom to make their foot work sound louder.
They dance locally here in Nashville at the plaza mariachi, cheekwood, and centennial park.
