Despite only working in prevention education for 2.5 years, Emma Wilson's experience so far has been incredibly meaningful. While teaching a ninth grade class, one student shared that substance use disorder ran in their family and thanked her for discussing the topic with an evidence-informed approach rather than turning it into a moral issue. The student expressed that they wanted to be the one in their family to end the disease, and ended up signing up for PreventEd's leadership program, Teen Institute. It just takes one powerful teaching moment to make a generational difference. That's why we are so thankful for our prevention educators this #NationalPreventionWeek!
