Our driver Dinuka pulled over to watch the replay, and he let us know he’d been working at the Uruguayan embassy for 15 years since moving from Sri Lanka. We made it there at the 30-minute mark and were greeted by the current Uruguayan ambassador, the former president of Uruguay, and the entire embassy staff. The first half ended with a promising result, and out came around a flurry of sandwiches, alfajores, and soft drinks as we chatted about their time in the US and their hopes for the second half.
