#happyinhome Checking in on Bret (tabby) and Puddy Tat (Orange) who were adopted back in 2022! Both of these incredible kittens arrived in our care from other rescues and struggled to find furever homes because they were FeLV positive. Bret and Puddy Tat's incredible adopters chose to give these adorable kitties a second chance at a loving home. The two have become best friends and are thriving in their furever family. FeLV or Feline Leukemia Virus infects roughly 3% of cats in the United States. It spreads only from feline to feline through bites. FeLV can weaken the immune system of a cat and potentially shorten their lifespan. When we see FeLV+ kitties in our care, they have a much longer stay in the shelter than other kitties due to misinformation and stigmas that surround the virus. We are so grateful for adopters like Bret and Puddy Tat's who give FeLV+ cats a loving home. We currently have one FeLV+ kitty, Funny Face, in our care who needs a loving home just like Bret and Pudd...
