A buck in Colorado found itself in a very unusal situation this week as it ended up in a Colorado Springs basement office. Colorado Parks and Wildlife shared photos of the encounter on Twitter and said that this is mule deer enter mating season, also called the rut. "After sharpening their antlers on trees, they wildly chase does and drive off rival bucks, sparring violently," CPW wrote. CPW officer Travis Sauder noted that perhaps the buck saw its reflection in the basement window, or that it was in a fight and lost. But either way, it ended up crashing through the window and landing in the office. Sauder darted the buck to sedate it and when it tried to flee, its antlers sent a vase of flowers crashing. He treated the buck's cuts and then carried it outside with CPW Biologist Ty Woodward. Officer Sauder helped gently wake it back up by massaging it.
