The newest members of CHS learned more about what it means to be a part of our Jesuit school community Wednesday as the Class of 2028 experienced their Freshman Retreat. The one-day retreat is based on the Jesuit pillar of Cura Personalis (care of the whole person) and is run by our Campus Ministry program and CHS upperclassmen. Students spend time during the retreat engaging in various activities and explored the Our Lady of Victory National Shrine and Basilica in Lackawanna. The retreat began in Scaccia Auditorium, where students heard from St. Joseph’s University graduate and motivational speaker Erick Woods in a presentation entitled “Ignatian Roots.” At Our Lady of Victory, students and faculty leaders heard a presentation on the legacy of Fr. Nelson Baker by Monsignor David LiPuma, the rector of OLV. They then toured the basilica’s Fr. Baker Museum and went on a guided examen and tour of the basilica.
