"Can't I just go see a normal audiologist for my child's new diagnosis?" Short answer, yes of course! ...but here are some reasons why you might want to look for a specialized, Pediatric Audiologist. ➡️They are specially trained for smaller ear anatomy --Have you ever tried to cut a child or newborn's nails? SO MUCH MORE DIFFICULT, isn't it? ➡️They will conduct tests that don't rely on communication. Babies and young children can't communicate yet and therefore can't answer the questions a "normal" audiologist asks in order to get information. ➡️They understand that this can be hard on the parents, and can offer empathy to the whole family. ➡️They can help lessen anxiety because all of their patients are children. They truly know how to best serve you. ➡️ They can recommend other professionals to add to the care team. THIS IS HUGE. The importance of a solid care team can't be put into words. 💕If you're starting to look for an audiologist for your child with a new diagnosis...
