The Unforgettable Garmin KC Marathon: A Photographer's Perspective
The crack of the starting gun at 7 a.m. marked the beginning of a long but exhilarating day of photographing the inspiring athletes at the Garmin KC Marathon.
As an official photographer, I witnessed the agony and ecstasy of marathoners firsthand. The day for me started before the sun came up at 4 a.m., as I stationed myself at mile marker 26, ready to capture runners powering through despite apparent fatigue. I saw people high-fiving, limping, stopping to stretch—but all determined to cross that finish line. My favorite moment was when an older gentleman paused to walk with a young boy struggling in the last few miles. He encouraged the boy on, staying by his side. They finished together, which is an example of the human spirit this event represents.
My goal is to inspire others to keep pushing themselves to achieve things they once thought impossible. Completing a marathon is on many bucket lists for good reason. ...
