MAKING MUMS WITH HER MUM: Sophomore Aubrey Macedo kicks off our last Homecoming Spirit Week gallery, showing off her homemade homecoming mum. Macedo spent around four hours with her mom making her mum and another four hours making five other mums for her friends.
“I enjoy making mums because it’s a bonding activity me and my mom do together where we can both be creative and have fun together,” Macedo said.
Macedo has been making mums since her eighth grade homecoming, and for the past three years, she’s been having fun with this homecoming tradition.
“I think the tradition of making mums is important because it brings school spirit and pride, and it fosters a sense of belonging amongst the students,” Macedo said. “The mums give students a physical marker of a milestone in their lives, and you can personalize them to show what clubs and activities you liked during that time.”
