October is #LiverCancerAwarenessMonth. Often diagnosed in the late stages of the disease, researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center hope to use a recent $13 million grant to develop new, effective drug combinations to treat the disease. #ThisIsVirginia Made possible by the National Cancer Institute, the grant will empower the Richmond-based team to research the biology of liver tumors and advanced treatment options. The long-term goal is to offer new treatment options as a clinical trial. 📸 : Devanand Sarkar, M.B.B.S., Ph.D./VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center
