In a recent ASUC senate resolution senate members proposed a referendum to extend the BayPass program to all campus students for the 2025-26 school year and beyond.
BART and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission initially launched Clipper BayPass as a two-year pilot program in August 2022, providing free public transit to about 50,000 Bay Area residents, including 12,000 randomly selected campus students.
The program was renewed until June 2025 for continuing students who had originally received the pass. The ASUC now aims to expand the program in an effort to encourage more students to use public transit, according to ASUC Senator Isha Chander.
