In preparation for Hagen Smith’s professional debut in Aberdeen on Saturday, August 24th, I interviewed Arkansas pitching coach Matt Hobbs, who offered incredible insight on the star left-hander’s college career. I asked Hobbs, “what was your ‘that’s a future big leaguer’ moment with Hagen Smith?” His answer was fantastic, and I told that story during the top of the 3rd inning in Smith’s pro debut for the High-A Winston-Salem Dash against the IronBirds. Smith was the No. 5 overall pick by the Chicago White Sox in the 2024 MLB Draft. Follow @mikedupsports on X/Twitter, Instagram and TikTok for more broadcasting highlights.
