Sports prepare women to lead. Period. The story is here. With me. The research is there, with the womenssportsfoundation groundbreaking study, “Play to Lead”. “There is a deep, cross-generational impact when girls and women participate in sports -- the skills, traits, and experiences developed through youth sports directly connect to leadership outcomes and demands in adulthood.” I am a leader now because youth Jo took the field, court, pool, rink, and pitch. On any given day you could find me diving into neighbors yards catching footballs, wiping a bloody nose after a tough rugby hit, smashing a forehand winner to take the set, gasping for air after 25 meters of butterfly.
