The water also has low concentrations of nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus, which limits the growth of algae. 💙Crater Lake is one of the clearest large bodies of water in the world, with clarity readings of up to 142 ft (43 m). This allows UV light to penetrate as deep as 320 ft (100 m). 💙When sunlight enters the lake, water molecules absorb red and green light, but blue light penetrates more deeply and scatters back to the surface.
