It’s #worldelephantday and every year now, on this day, I’m taken back to the extraordinary experience I had in Kenya in 2017 helping to bring awareness to the important work of saving the African 🐘 that the orgs >> tagged in these photos << are doing. . Before that trip I had no idea the rates at which elephants are hunted and slaughtered for the ivory in their tusks. How in danger these majestic, gentle giants are from humans. Or how smart and empathetic they are. How much their society depends on their matriarchs. How they sometimes travel thousands of miles to mourn their dead in the same spot one passes away.
