Have you seen #amplifymelanatedvoices yet? To me it’s one of the most positive things to occur during this week of protests and increased awareness. I didn’t know if I would participate because I didn’t want to do so to be performative or just because everyone else was doing it. But when I saw this photo from @flattopphotography, it stopped me in my tracks. I immediately wanted to share Kenny’s work and was so grateful when he gave me permission. I think it captures the hope and the potential of this time — though make no mistake I am fully aware of how not peaceful and dangerous it has been for some and how that’s but a microcosm of the danger and uncertainty of everyday life in the USA for Black people — the hope I see in young people, in the coming together of so many disparate voices who have been silent in the past and in the ability for the very tools we so often rail against as taking over our lives, to aid in the potential rapidity of change.
