Throwing it back to a moment in India for
#traveltuesday - the state of Rajasthan, in particular. I probably have two dozen photos I could still share from what has undoubtedly become my favorite state in the country. This particular spot, The Patrika Gate, is an ornate decorative landmark on Jawahar Circle – the biggest circular park in Asia that’s on a traffic signal. It is the ninth gate of its type in the city, mostly pink on the outside with a series of nine repeating arches or pavilions inside that are each nine feet wide. Each is intricately carved and painted by hand, telling the stories and the history of Rajasthan in bright color with stunning detail. Though it is new, it has the look of something older and fits in well with the jewel box that is the city of Jaipur. I was bowled over by the designers, the artisans and the creative people who call the city home so seeing the gate on our way to the airport to leave the city was a perfect way to cap that part of our trip.
