A funny thing seemed to happen after the robbery on NYE in Roma, I seem to have lost my confidence as a photographer. Even though I resolved to not let it get to me, and I 💯 meant what I said when I stated that things like that simply happen and we shouldn’t let them get to us, I think it got to me. Inside in the place I couldn’t control. I think having been robbed of a whole bag containing my passport, wallet and quite a few other items - made me afraid to use my @sonyalpha a7R II around the city, because of the value of it, because it might have made me a target. Like that might be taken next! Perhaps that is understandable. But it’s also sad. My photos from the day after the robbery on, seem to exhibit a sense of fear and of being pulled back, afraid to engage. Afraid to seek out moments, instead relying on just snapping photos here and there more for posterity than for creativity.
