Check out @dante.vincent’s feed to see a drone shot from this spot: Old Inverlochy Castle. Though our trip to Scotland was mostly a vacation, @VisitScotland assisted with a few aspects of the itinerary. They made the suggestion to stop here, while we were in Fort William, before staying overnight at Inverlochy Castle Hotel. I’m so glad they did! The trees around the castle were colored in the full spectrum of Autumn and the sun even came out for a few minutes while we explored. It was built between 1270-1280 by John “the Black” Comyn right on the banks of River Lochy. At one time it had a moat and was one of the most important castles in Scottish history, the backdrop for two major historical events; the first and second battles of Inverlochy. Old Inverlochy Castle is now in ruin, but it’s incredible to think about how it has remained almost unaltered since it was built. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Oh and for all my fellow #Outlander fans, the “Fort” in Fort William fell into disuse by the mid 1860...
