12/16 #CaliforniaWild #sponsored post • We ended our time in what I’m calling the packed-with-things-to-offer #CA_CentralCoast by kayaking around Ventura Harbor. After spending some time in the visitors center for nearby @channelislandsnps learning about the history and the ecology of the islands, I think we all wanted to see the wildlife we’d been hearing about, so it was great that we got a glimpse via a kayaking adventure. There was a group of sea lions hanging out near the fishing and leisure boats, that were mostly napping but ended up making a lot of noise for us once we got closer, as if they were showing off on purpose! Did you know that they have different names as a group depending on the circumstance? On land they are a colony, in the water a raft, during breeding season a rookery and a group of females in a male’s territory is called a harem! • Thanks to @gopro for the HERO5 Black that I captured the second photo with.
