If you @visitwales you'll see very quickly there are a lot of castles to explore. It feels akin to being on the set of Game of Thrones which has been thrilling me to no end!! But so far, this is my favorite we've visited because it wasn't built by an English king, instead it is Welsh and dates to the 1100's. You can approach it two ways: by crossing a river that takes you through a forest filled with almost more moss than trees, or by going through a more open wooded area with trees that twist as if possessed. Either way you climb steadily till you're on a hill and see this before you with Lake Dolbadarn at your back and Mt. Snowdon in the background. The name Dolbadarn means "meadow of Padarn", so meadow of the Saint, because there was indeed a Saint Padarn.
