During our time on Oahu, @dante.vincent and I were able to meet with @kainoadaines who works at @oahuvb and @gohawaii as their Cultural Advisor. Kainoa took us to Queen Emma's Summer Palace and this nearby lookout to tell us the history of Hawaii related to its Kings and Queens. Hawaii is the only state in the USA to have a real palace, not just a home called a palace. It's also the only destination to have been a Kingdom, a sovereign nation, an independent republic, a territory and as of August 21, 1959 a U.S. state. This view can be found between the Windward side of Oahu and the city of Honolulu, at a lookout called Nu'uanu Pali as you look toward the windward side. It is the site of The Battle of Nuʻuanu which occurred in May of 1795 involving the forces of King Kamehameha I & the warriors of Oahu before the islands were one Kingdom.
