Like the other @leadinghotelsoftheworld that we've visited on this trip, @deleuropeams is historic and has so many stories which I could share with you. It's either the oldest hotel in Amsterdam or one of the oldest hotels in the city depending on who you ask. Unlike other hotels it doesn't sit on a canal, it sits right on the Amstel River, on the end of an island taking up a prominent "corner" that's passed by foot, boat and bike traffic -- stopping many people in their tracks on a near constant basis. It's currently owned by the Heineken family but there has been a hotel on the same site for 120 years and a bank that once sat next to the hotel has now been absorbed into the property so that there is what is now called a "Dutch Masters Wing" in addition to the oldest corridors of the hotel, where my mum and I stayed. A restaurant with two Michelin stars awaits you inside adjacent to a gleaming brass bar named Freddy's in honor of Mr. Heineken, where you can taste De L'Europe's own win...
