We were late checking into @sheratonmaui for our last night in Hawaii but not too late to catch the nightly event which is the watching of the sunset from Cliff Dive Bar and the Cliff Dive Ceremony that happens at Black Rock. I didn't bring a long enough lens to capture the warriors jumping off Black Rock but @dante.vincent has a serene photo that shows the moment well. The legend says something akin to the fact that a warrior would jump off the rock after tossing his torch and lei into the ocean and therefore pay tribute to the old great warrior chiefs and the gods for whom the water was the connection between our world and theirs. It happens every night at the Sheraton and I recommend getting a seat early for a Mai Tai as the golden orb of the sun starts to make its descent. Then, just as the torches are being lit, make your way to the beach to see the ceremony up close. #SPGhawaii
