We all agreed when it came time to check out of @altoatacama that we were sad to leave. The hotel is situated in a small valley in the Atacama Desert very close to the town of San Pedro, making it really easy to enjoy the town, and yet it's just far enough away that I was able to feel a much needed peace and serenity in being away from city and urban life for a few days. The architecture of the hotel is very harmonious with the surrounding landscape, almost blending in completely; and yet standing out in just the right ways at just the right times. The food is excellent and a highlight for our group was the Saturday BBQ where everything is roasted over a huge open pit fire. There are also multiple pools, at varying temperatures, and a superb spa that's dark and serene. In fact everything that's indoors at the hotel is designed specifically to give your eyes a much needed break from the glaring desert sun, and your soul the chance to slow down and ponder what really matters.
